Climb Mount Toubkal. Extraordinary trekking holiday in the High Atlas in Morocco. Alongside your nearby guide, cook and donkey driver, you meander through air Berber towns, lavish valleys, limited crevasses, and bright mountains. Remain medium-term in visitor houses and camp in a tent under the fig trees. En route you climb Mount Toubkal, which is, with its 4.167 meters (13,671 ft.), the most astounding mountain in North Africa. The rising to the top is testing, however requires no past climbing knowledge, and the view at the top is certainly worth the exertion. The trek is in itself a phenomenal nature experience, and the program is planned so that there is space to get an impression of the Berber culture in the Atlas Mountains. The trekking holiday can be delighted in by any individual who carries on with a customary dynamic life. There is additionally time to encounter Marrakech with its flame eaters, wind tamers and beautiful markets.

DAY 1:

Arrival in Marrakech

Transfer to your hotel, dinner included.

DAY 2:

Marrakech – Asni – Imioughlad – Col Tacht (2.000m)
Spend night at Tiziane (1800m) in a camp or gîte after 4 hours 30mins walking. Rise positive of 600m and negative of 300m.

DAY 3:

Tiziane (1800m) – Col Téouti (2400m)
Camping at Tizgui’n Tikkent (2250m). 6 Hour walking. Rise positive of 1050m and negative of 250m.

DAY 4:

Azib n Tikkent – Col Tougdalt (2700 m) – Azib n Tamsoult (2250m) camp. 6 hours walking. Rise positive of 800m and negative of 900m.

DAY 5:

Azib Tamsoult (2250m) – Col Mezzik – Imlil gite (1750m). 5 hours walking.

DAY 6:

Imlil – Armed – Sidi Chamharouch – Refuge Neltner (3200m)
5 hours 30 mins ascent. Rise positive of 1500m.

DAY 7:

Refuge Neltner – Summit Toubkal – back to refuge – Camp.
5 hours walking. Rise positive and negative of 1000m.

DAY 8:

Refuge Neltner – Col Ounamous (3700m) – lac Ifni (2400m) – Camp.
6 hours walking. Rise positive of 500m and negative of 1350m.

DAY 9:

Lac Ifni – Tissaldai – Taghbalout (2500m) – camp. 5 hours 30 mins walking. Rise positive of 850m and negative of 300m.

DAY 10:

Taghbalout – Col 2900m – Azib Likkemt – Camp (2600m).
6 hours 30 mins walking. Rise positive of 900m and negative of 800m.

DAY 11:

Azib Likkemt (2600m) – Col Likkemt (3600m) – Camp Amagdoul (2300m).
6 hours walking. Rise positive of 1000m and negative of 1200m.

DAY 12:

Ousarou – Col Eddi (2900m) – Oukaimden (2600m) night at Ousertek (2100m).
5 hours 30 mins walking. Rise positive of 700m and negative of 900m.

DAY 13:

Ousertek – Arg Imeskar – Imioughlad – end of the trek.
3 hours 30 mins walking. Rise positive of 300m and negative of 400m.

DAY 14:

Free day in Marrakech

DAY 15:

Transfer to Airport
Depending on your flight time, you may be able to spend your remaining Dirhams down at the Souk. Check out of the Hotel and transfer to the Airport.

WHAT TO BRING

You need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region; it can be warm and sunny during the day but the weather in the mountains can quickly change from sunshine to snow and cold winds (autumn through late spring). Please do not leave any rubbish behind you; carry out what you carry in.

We are tailored to match the season and your level of fitness. You have the choice of basing yourself in Berber Guesthouses, from where you can take daily walks, or you can Atlas Mule Trek for 2+ days. On mule treks you usually have the choice of staying in Berber Guesthouse/with families or wild camping in 2-person tents. In addition to regular packing, here is a check list for:

  • Good walking boots and socks
  • Comfortable shoes/slippers for camp/guesthouse
  • Trekking pants
  • Lightweight waterproof over-trousers / rain-pants
