On this 8 days Imperial cities tour in Morocco from Tanger to Marrakech by means of Chefchaouen, Fes, and Merzouga, we will take you to find the excellence of the maroccan nation. Visit Chefchaouen, maroccan ‘blue city’, Fez city tour, experience Merzouga extravagance desert camp and camel trekking, investigate Dades valley, Ouarzazate and Marrakech imperial city, and considerably more activities and see numerous maroccan attractions on this exciting adventure.

DAY 1:

Tanger – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

After arrive to Tanger, we pick up at the port or airport. We departure for Chauen making a stop in the city of Tetouan, called the Spanish city. Afternoon arrival in Chefchaouen, where we will be guided for a complete visit to the blue city. Walk through its narrow streets and old houses painted in his blue and white blue also contemplate its beautiful panoramic views. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Chauen Square.

DAY 2:

Chefchaouen – Roman Ruin – Meknez – Fez

Morning departure crossing the mountain villages of Jbala. After about 4 hours away, we arrive in Fez, one of the four imperial cities named by Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat. Fez is considered as Morocco’s most religious and cultural center of the country. Night in riad or hotel.

DAY 3:

Fez

Full day dedicated to the discovery of intellectual city of the kingdom. We visit many monuments, we also recommend to hire an official guide, who will show you the most interesting places such as: Medersas (Koranic schools): Chahrij, Bouinania Attarin, souk, Fes El- Jadid, Karaouine Mosque (the first university in world). It is very curious to visit the neighborhood of leather tanners, where we can appreciate the craftsmanship. Overnight at hotel or riad.

DAY 4:

Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Monkeys forest – Erfoud – desert

From Fez go to the Middle Atlas, we will visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa, then we visit Azrou Berber village known for its handcrafts, carpets and wood carving. Then we arrive in Midelt (route is followed by the Tizi Talghemt or Neck Camella, 1.907m altitude). The landscape is breathtaking, the mountains are completely naked, covered in a purple coat. After arrival in Errachidia, we cross solid Tafilalet palm to Erfoud. We will spend the night in desert Berber camp.

DAY 5:

Merzouga – Todra Gorge, Valley of Roses, Skoura palm grove – Ouarzazate

We departure to Rissani, then to the Ksar of Touroug framed by spectacular oasis. Then we reach Tinejdad Tinerhir and after lunch we walk through the gorges of Todra. We go through the beautiful Dades Valley Boulmane and we visiti Kelâa I – Gouna – Rose Valley, in full bloom during the month of May. We arrive in Ouarzazate, we visit the Kasbah, and there is possibility to visit Taourirt which was the residence of the Pasha from Marrakech.

DAY 6:

Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Talouet -Marrakech

We will go to Marrakesh through Tiz-in-pass (2.260m). We will have option to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou kasbah (heritage by UNESCO). We continue our journey to the Capital of The Pasha of Marrakech visiting its kasbah Talouet. We will take the road curves Tichkaque port that offers a spectacular panorama with lots of colors on the plain of Haouz. We arrive in Marrakech.

DAY 7:

Marrakech

We will have morning tour of the city. Its fate is linked with that of the different dynasties that happen; and its tradition of political, economic and cultural metropolis has always dominated the history of the Maghreb. In Marrakech city you can also see the famous Plaza Jemaa el Fna, which for several centuries is the most amazing world of popular theater: snake charmers, musicians, dancers, storytellers, fortune tellers, entertainers. In Marrakech there are countless places to visit, for example: Medersa Ben Yussef, the Menara, the Dar Si Said Museum, the Agdal garden, the Saadian Tombs and El Badi and Bahia Palaces… Afternoon and dinner in the famous square. Night in Riad.

DAY 8:

Marrakech – Airport

Transport to the airport and end of the trip.

WHAT TO BRING

You need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region; it can be warm and sunny during the day but the weather in the mountains can quickly change from sunshine to snow and cold winds (autumn through late spring). Please do not leave any rubbish behind you; carry out what you carry in.

We are tailored to match the season and your level of fitness. You have the choice of basing yourself in Berber Guesthouses, from where you can take daily walks, or you can Atlas Mule Trek for 2+ days. On mule treks you usually have the choice of staying in Berber Guesthouse/with families or wild camping in 2-person tents. In addition to regular packing, here is a check list for:

  • Good walking boots and socks
  • Comfortable shoes/slippers for camp/guesthouse
  • Trekking pants
  • Lightweight waterproof over-trousers / rain-pants
